Circle legal
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Circle handles, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Effective: 1 October 2026
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide when you create or update a Circle account, including your email address, display name, username, profile details, avatar and profile banner.
- Creator content you upload or share, including posts, photos, captions, comments and stories.
- Social activity such as follows, connections, likes, saves, shares, reports and appeals.
- Messages and related conversation information needed to deliver messaging and protect the community.
- Basic technical and usage information, such as device data, page activity, sign-in events and error records.
- Preferences stored on your device, including appearance and notification choices.
2. How we use information
- Provide accounts, profiles, feeds, discovery, messaging, notifications and creator collaboration features.
- Personalise recommendations and rank content using signals such as freshness, interests and engagement.
- Detect spam, unsafe content, abuse and policy violations, and enforce Circle's rules.
- Investigate reports and appeals, prevent fraud, maintain security and resolve technical problems.
- Meet legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of Circle, its users and others.
3. Content visibility and sharing
Your profile and public creator content may be visible to visitors and other users. Private-account settings can limit who sees new posts in the feed, but some profile information may remain discoverable.
Messages are shared with conversation participants. Circle's automated safety systems may check new content and messages, and authorised reviewers may review content that is flagged or reported.
4. Storage and service providers
Circle uses service providers to operate authentication, hosting, databases, media delivery, analytics and automated moderation. New images may be stored in Google Drive and delivered through Circle. Google sign-in is available when you choose it.
These providers process information only to provide their services to Circle and are subject to their own security and privacy obligations. Information may be processed in countries outside India where these services operate, subject to applicable law.
5. Safety, reports and enforcement
We use automated and human review to identify content that may violate our rules. Reports, moderation decisions, strikes and appeals are retained as needed to enforce those rules, prevent repeat abuse and document decisions.
A post may enter a review queue after reports and may be hidden automatically when reporting thresholds are met. Automated decisions can be reviewed through the appeal tools available in Circle.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide Circle, maintain safety records, resolve disputes and comply with law. Deleted content may remain temporarily in backups or records where retention is legally or operationally required.
You may delete content using available controls. Account deletion requests can be made through the account and support options Circle makes available.
7. Your choices and rights
- Update profile information and manage privacy, notification, blocked-account and appearance settings.
- Unfollow, disconnect, mute or block other users using Circle's controls.
- Request access to, correction of or deletion of personal data, subject to identity verification and applicable law.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Raise a grievance or appeal an eligible moderation decision through the options available in Circle.
8. Children and young people
Circle is for people aged 13 or older. If you are under the age at which you can consent to data processing in your location, a parent or legal guardian must permit your use of Circle and provide any consent required by law. We may restrict or remove an account when required to protect a young person or comply with law.
9. Security
We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so protect your password and tell us through Circle's available support options if you believe your account has been compromised.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Circle, our practices or applicable laws change. The effective date above will be revised, and important changes may also be communicated in the app.
